Program Pre-requisites: This
package is designed for individuals who have experience in windows environment,
and basic concepts of programming, networking, or databases.
Program Objectives: Students
completing the program should have the necessary skills to become employed
as an entry-level web developer, database developer and administrator,
or a programmer, mostly in the Oracle environment.
Topics covered are as follows:
UNIX/Linux/Apache Web Server: The course covers the
UNIX Operating System, UNIX file systems, general UNIX commands and
utilities, Shell programming, the UNIX user, the system administrator,
and the X Windows. This course covers networking, network file system,
E-mail systems, the Internet, and security. Installing Linux, Linux
filesystem, running and managing programs, Linux configuration basics,
managing users and permissions, configuring the X Window system, configuring
GNOME and Enlightenment, configuring LILO, managing packages with RPM,
archiving, backing up and restoring, advanced system administration,
local area network, sharing Windows/Linux resources. Installing Apache
HTTP Web Server, configuring Apache, starting and stopping Apache, and
Serving content.
